Kriegsmarshal Von Kobold is the mayor of Murnau in A Darkling Plain. Unlike the other members of the Traktionstadtsgesellschaft, Kriegsmarshal did not join to shed Green Storm blood, but instead to defend his city and its people. His son, Wolf Kobold, does not share his pacifist views. After the Green Storm War ended, Kriegsmarshal settled Murnau down on top of a hill and made it static, as he knew that the system of Municipal Darwinism wouldn't last.
